Who We Are

We're third generation farmers on both sides of our family and grew up growing grass seed on the family farm. Our own company, Goracke Seed Farm, was started in 1991 with four brothers, one cousin, one
combine and just 60 acres of annual ryegrass. Over 20 years later the farm is larger and the crops a little more varied. We started our own seed company, Farmer Direct Seed Source, in 2005 with the conviction that we know better than anyone else how to market and sell our seed at the most competitive prices.
It's reported that almost 90% of the world's grass seed is grown right here in Oregon's Willamette Valley due to the soil and weather conditions we enjoy. Many of the varieties of cool season grasses we grow are grown as winter forage or cover crops in places all over the country.
